More on St. Laurent/ Ste. Catherine, photos etc.

I put together a slideshow for last Saturday’s event at Cabaret Cléo, where I spoke about the history of the Main and that block. The slideshow walks you down both sides of the street from the corner of St. Laurent and Ste. Catherine during one afternoon in November, 1965. It uses photos taken from a catalogue of an exhibit held at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in 1966 called “Montréal, plus ou moins?/ plus or minus?” Melvin Charney organized the exhibit and took the photos. The rest of the exhibit catalogue contains interesting photos and texts critiquing that period when thousands upon thousands of buildings were demolished in Montreal to make way for various highways, buildings and parking lots.
